Thankfully, Orange is the New Black bucked that trend when it came out in 2013 by focusing on life inside of a women’s minimum-security prison through the eyes of a first-time conduct. Oz, Prison Break, Prisoner and Hogan’s Heroes, are all examples of the fact that television has predominantly been comfortable with allowing us to see fictionalized versions of men’s prisons. Over the years there have been several shows about life in prison, but the vast majority of them have focused on correction facilities that house men.
